Aka: chocolate sapote
this is the best fruit for putting in brownies.
what you want to do is wait till the fruits skin is a light brown all around, and soft to the touch. then you'd painstakingly spoon out the flesh inside and dump the flesh into a bowl. then mix and stir with a lot of agave until it's the texture of pudding. add as much of whatever sweetener you like until you like the taste of it. so you'd taste as you stir and add whatever sweetener at the same time. i like agave, so i put a lot of agave.
you can eat like pudding or add to brownies or whatever you want to replace chocolate with. i like to get the premade brownie mix from the store and just add a cup or so of this black sapote mix into the brownie batter. it makes the brownies slightly gelatinous and amazing. i can never enjoy brownies just as they are without black sapote now.
